I started collecting toys again when Transformers Live action came out.
At first I just wanted to get myself Autobot JAZZ. I promised myself that I would not rest until I get my hands on this. And when I got Jazz, I next wanted to have Barricade...then Bumblebee, Ratchet and so on... At this point, my finances slowly trickled down the vault.
After collecting the Transformer toys, I then tried exploring Bandai Gundam action kits.
I started out with a 1/100 HG Master Gundam, then an MG Strike with IWSP, MG F 91, MG Strike Freedom etc.
Now with what I have so far, I could say that toy collecting has somehow financially drained me! But don't get me wrong, I'm happy with my new found hobby and I have no regrets. Just like any toy collector out there, we all know that nothing in life is free and Gundams don't grow on trees (how I wish).
Yet on the other hand, after realizing this (many times before) I will always end up buying something I really want (like a Blue Astray 2ND L, AC Guy, MK II Ver 2.o etc, Iron Hide).
So between saving up and collecting, a compromise should be drawn! So here it goes...
To cater to both living and toy collecting, I have decided to cut on the unnecessary costs (like eating and commuting, LOLX!) by settling for cheaper yet yummy meals. I have even computed my costs so as to save up once again.
And only when I have enough extra cash will I purchase any toy!! So between saving up and buying new toys, I would have to settle blogging about my most desired toys and gadgets... until I get my own!! Yata!!!

Going back to Basics - Back to RX 78
After Strike Noir, I decided that we try some new techniques on our next MG. Since I am still very new to this hobby of mecha modelling, I decided that the best way to put my skills to the test and level it up is by trying the new things I have learned with an actual kit (adding detail via an exacto knife, adding parts via styrene and combining paint)
So to put these skills to the test, a decent yet cheap MG should be the next project! And the best MG for the project is none other than RX 78 - 05 or also called as GO 5 (we considered RX 78 -04, GP 01/03/ RX 78 Ver ka, MK Titans Ver 2.0, but GO 5 won the battle)!
Now with that out of the way, I wanna begin sharing about the build process of GO 5, which surprisingly took us longer than expected.
We employed the new method, same one we used with Strike Noir. But as I mentioned earlier, RO 5 will be our first venture into styrene!
Upon looking at g0 5, i pinpointed that the back of the head and the feet needed extra detail, so for starters, i cut up rectangular strips for the styrene and added it on the kit parts, inked then painted it. Overall, the experience was rewarding and quite satisfactory, yet not revolutionary.

I also used the exacto knife to create additional detail to the kit which was also quite satisfactory.
Disaster however came after painting as the paint smudged the panel detail I added, causing the ink to expand. The best I could do to fix it was for me to re-ink the smudged panelling.

Now going back to GO 5, this paint fiasco caused the longer build time plus the styrene add-ons. But despite the sleepless night we spent, I would say that RX 78 - 5 came out well.
Since its an old mold (2003), posability was an issue, but in the looks department, and the arm and weapon construction, it was definitely a good buy! I also liked its massive size! and all of these for just a fraction of the price of the newer models!

Fix Figuration Madness!
Good Grief!!! Guess what?! I just received my very first Fix Figuration Gundam and its none other than FF #0014 and that's the bad ass MSA-0011-1 (Ext) Ex-S GUNDAM "TASKFORCE ALPHA."
The Gods must have been very kind to heed my plea, for I have been eyeing this FF when it went on sale at a Hobby Shop in Festival Mall!! However I decided not to get it for myself since it was way beyond my budget!
But by some mysterious power, now I have it in my possession!!! So now let me tell you more about this FF!!
- Overall, EX-S comes in a neat, see through box where you can see all the goodies you can add on to it, including its bad ass assault gun. A very tempting way to wrap it up indeed!
- Upon opening, a flurry of tape and twist ties welcome you. And also upon opening, additional add on parts will be found under the first plastic holder. This is where you can also find the stand.
- Once you get pass the tape and wires, nostalgia begins!! More than a dozen mods for the knees, legs, shoulders, torso and waist await you as you upgrade it to full armor mode!! Talk about Pure FF madness!
Anyway, I just wanted to show you guys how aesthetically satisfying EX-S is!! You should really get one (or ask someone to give it to you, lolx!). I hope I can afford the MG version!! And the G-SYS Deep Striker! Wooooooooooohoooooooo!!!
