Minsan may isang EMO...

Vader: "Kssssh Krooooh...Kssssh Krooooh, I am your pader Lyuk!"

He he he!

Strike Noir SD: Bigger than you want it to be!

Right before assembly!

Yep it's smaller than the average but it sure packs a punch when applied with the right paint! Yep, I'm talking about my friend's SD Gundam: Strike Noir! Now why did he decide to buy this pint size Gundam?Simple, it was his guinea pig for paint application testing!

The idea came to us after completing MG Strike with I.W.S.P.. The final result was one hot Gundam, but compared to the models we see online, our Strike looked like a wuss (no offense Strike!).

The mini and the not so mini collide!

So after this, we were hell bent in learning the tricks of the trade with painting, hence the purchase of Strike Noir SD.
If you want a detailed look at the painting process of the SD, just check that out. Now I was quite apprehensive in acquiring these chibi robots because I thought they were just for display like the FG's with immovable parts, but I was surprised when I found out that the SD model was fully posable as well.

More guns than meets the eye

So what was supposed to be an experiment, turned out to be a spanking new addition to our Gundam collection!

Fresh off the assembly line

We pieced SD Noir in an hour. It could have been less than that, but I also paneled the parts before putting them together. And I have to say that putting these little Gundam together was also an accomplishing task!

The SD Strike Noir Gun Kata

Because of that, we have purchased another SD, Astray Red Frame, and this time, its not for another experiment!

Bring out the BIG Guns!

Oh and unless you wanted to know, when our officemate saw Noir, they also got interested in purchasing SD Gundams! He he he!

Chibi's in the House!!

Warning: Video on Board Buses = Brain Damage

I never thought that riding a bus can be so perilous to one's brain...

Yes it is, you have to believe me!But I'm not talking about all kinds of buses, I'm talking of the ones with a TV on board! You want to know how it is so?Then read along...

I used to rent an apartment or a room close to work to avoid commuting everyday. It helps me save money and conserve my energy to channel it to more important tasks like playing PS2 and watching DVD's! Lolx!

But when I transferred to Makati, I decided to go back home for the meantime until I find a new apartment.

I usually have to report to work at 10 am, so I have to leave an hour and a half earlier (around 8:30) because the bus ride alone is an hours worth to my work area. My gauge for being late (or early) is not the time in my phone but the shows shown on the Bus TV. For a weird reason, the bus TVs are always on GMA so I base my arrival at work on their morning shows .

Tuned in to GMA as always...

Here is the run down:
AM Telenovela - very early to work!!
Hamtaro - Still can buy Breakfast at Mc Do (sakto lang sa oras)
Pokemon - Just the right time (Sakto lang sa oras)
Jackie Chan - Just a wee bit late (una pa rin sa boss ko)

OK sounds beneficial eh, having a TV on board... but after Jackie Chan, the lobotomy begins. I discovered this one show specifically designed to"dumbify" humans. He he he, now I don't mean to sound rude, but anything that insults anyones intellect deserves a big bad ass bashing!

Yes, I'm talking about SIS! God!! What is this show supposed to be? Is it supposed to provide information to the viewers how to be a good mom, or a how to keep your house clean, or make women beautiful. Nope, None of the above!! Its just a no brainer show where GMA showcases their pool of stars, with three women (one of them shrieks like a cat on ecstasy) to guide the PR process.

All hail the Mighty SIS trio...

I have tried so many times to find the logic of this show, since I have no choice when its on the Bus TV, and my earphones couldn't drown the voices of the hosts.

So as I said, I tried so hard to use my brain in watching the show, but to no avail. Now again I may sound harsh, but let me give you an example of one of their episodes:

Title: Magic at Pagkilig Panalo Ka Dyan - (OK, yeah, ahuh, like cool title, makes a lot of sense@#$!)

Concept: They invite GMA stars, 3 girls and 3 boys and partner them and pretend their actual lovers and so madly in love with each other (Oh By the way, they also did this on a number of episodes way back, like a hundred times before. My cat writes better concepts than this one).

Some of their LUCKY guests, out for another no brainer episode!

Execution:
- They open with a dance number, make each partner dance (to make them look stupid) something they rehearsed for 1 minute or two. Bwahahaha!
- The first activity for the guests (these stars will be their guest next week and the week after that...wow, very refreshing!) was the childhood game FLAMES. Yep the grade school game that determines if your Friends,Lovers,Angry,Married,Engaged and Something (I forgot this one). And while the stars where at it, Carmina kept on screaming in the background "ayyyyyyyyyyy, kinikilig ako!". Maybe she foresaw how lame that activity was and she had to channel the viewers attention to her shrieks.
- Here is the good part, the guy stars perform grade school magic tricks before the break and the girl kisses the guys cheek. Wow! Hence the title Magic at pagkilig, Amen!!
- Then a supposed psychic reads the future of these love teams based on their birthdays...need I say more?
-Finally, an activity where each star writes what similar things they like, and when they do agree on a particular item, they should kiss each other on the lips... Again Carmina shrieks in joy as the three hosts force these guests to kiss. At this point, I felt my brain ooze out my nose...

Note:
- Dance numbers are inserted after the break...This is designed to make the stars again, even more stupid...
- The guy stars perform their lame magic tricks before a break...

Staring at the curtains is more useful than watching this rubbish...Wow, the curtain moved!!!Lolx
OK, now tell me, what did you learn from this episode.
Was it beneficial to the viewers?
Was it designed to purely entertain?
I really don't know but for me I learned that reporting late to work has its consequences, and that is you get to watch SIS.

I have to tell you, this experience on the bus is pure torture, given the fact that you cant do anything about it, you are at the mercy of stupidity!

To the writers of this show... hands down, you made me bleed my brain out...

The Making of MG Gundam Strike!

The pressure was on...

The task was daunting...

The excitement was off the roof...

And upon seeing the multitude of plastic sprues inside the big MG Box, my lips curved into a smile of delight! I told myself that after building a High grade type, I just wanted more parts to assemble to keep me preoccupied...the more the merrier!

Yep this is the feeling of a newbie Gundam collector at the sight of his very first Master Grade kit! I know some of you may have felt the same thing on your first Gundam kit, considering the prices of these MG's, you can only expect the best (hopefully nothing goes wrong)!

However, I'm writing this blog not only to tell you how addictive building your own Gundam is, but to give newbies like us a background on how things should go on your first try.

So here it goes... I believe the first thing to consider is the Gundam kit you like, if you like a First grade (less parts), High Grade (more parts, fully functional joints),Master Grade (with inner frame, detailed parts) or a Perfect Grade (you name it, it has it) which I'm not considering to have because of its price!

I chose the Gundman Strike with IWSP because its one of the latest in the shelves of Best toys. We had a choice between Strike Freedom and this one, but we just like the IWSP type because of its Big bad ass weaponry and backpack!!!

I.W.S.P. Fresh off the Assembly Line!!

With that out of the way, the next step is to cross check the contents of the box with that on the manual to make sure nothing is missing.

After we cleared that out, we quickly looked for a place where we could admire our spoils... Oh BTW, for newbies, its advisable to have a friend or two to help you in the Building process. You can do it solo once you get the hang of it and besides its more fun to build it with a friend, the other cuts, while you piece it together.

Now since we were both excited, we quickly began the task of piecing together the IWSP because it really looked cool in the images on the box! This is where we committed our first mistake. The painting and detailing should have come first!

Painting: The plastic of the Gundam is dull in color, so experts use spray paint to highlight the parts while their still in the sprue. Let these things dry, then the detailing follows after.

Detailing: Before cutting them from the sprue, you should use a Gundam marker to outline the grooves to add detail to the parts.

The most important part with a little detailing

We were not able to paint Strike, and the detailing only came after we assembled some parts. But we agreed however that this is the first MG we worked on, so we could have the full details on the next try.

Piece by Piece, slowly but surely!

Now the 2ND most important thing to consider is the day you decide to work on your kit because it took us more than 5 hours to work on Strike so a weekend will be best, or after work if your not tired yet because once you start, you will surely get hooked!

Next choose a working area with a nearby food station and comfort room because the long hours will surely make you need these things!

We officially started working on Strike at 11pm and we ended past 4 am, we just couldn't stop.

Now after you have painted and detailed the parts, you can begin the assembly stage.

Form arms and Body!!

As I said we started with the IWSP pack because we wanted to get the detachable accessories out of the way first, and I thought that the weapons were really cool so I wanted to see them built ASAP!

Now in building an MG, there will be a lot of small parts, so patience will be needed in piecing these parts together. I almost lost mine because of sleepiness!Lolx!

And I'll form the legs... was that the proper sequence??!!

We eventually piece things together and assemble the overall robot form!! Hurray!!

Finally Complete!!I wanna cry!

Now this is what this Gundam is all about, the bad ass weapons! As you can see he has two swords in the pack, two daggers on the pouches on the sides, a Gatling shield, laser canons and many more!!

The fun however doesn't end here because in the MG Kit, a lot of decals come with it. And some of these decals are microscopic in size so it took us a lot of time doing this but it was worth it. A tip from dannychoo.com: tape both sides of the decal before scratching it in place so it would not move.
Decal patrol!!The smaller the bitter!!Lolx

There were millions of decals (kidding) so we just concentrated in the manageable ones to complete Strike for a picture taking!

Accessories galore, now beat that!

And after all these hard work, the finished product was a jaw dropper despite the paint application and extensive detailing... remember, were newbies at this, he he he!

Yes folks, all that hours of work will be relieved once you see you MG complete. That's what we felt upon seeing strike!Weee!

Armed and dangerous and drop dead asteeg!

Next time, on our next MG, we will be more detailed!Promise!

Up next... Strike Noir??Wait and see!

Strike Gundam w/ IWSP

Do you know what this is??Think again!!

I finally got my 1st Master Grade Gundam Kit and I have to admit that it was one helluva fun experience!

I just wanna share to you guys images of Strike Gundam with I.W.S.P.! It may not look as hot as it should be because we didn't use any paint on it and my inking abilities is not as great as professional Gundam model addicts out there.

But for now, here it is and I am mighty proud with the first MG Gundam I assembled!
Thanks to my friend for helping me out in piecing this gundam together!

So without further adieu, here is Strike Gundam with I.W.S.P.!

More decals to be added in the future, but nevertheless, its one hot Gundam!

Big Bad ass Gatling Gun shield!!!

Asteeg talaga!! Isa pa!!

Review and images on its construction to follow in future posts.

Marvel vs Transformers!!

Toys unite every now and then to put up a show!

It was every toy collectors fantasy, to show off their prized possessions for everyone to admire. A simple look of inspiration, a nod of astonishment and a scream of approval makes a collectors heart leap and miss a beat.

Yes I'm talking about a toy convention, a toy festival which recently took place in our office. The management drummed up the event as a means to de-stress the employees and at the same time give an avenue for toy aficionados in the company to show off their collections!

My exhibit, Transformer Movie toys collide!

I was more than glad to have such an event because my Transformer Movie collection was itching to get out of my box and show off why they are the hottest toys to date!

But since my collection was not complete, I had to borrow other movie toys from my colleagues.

I was not the only one busy with preparations as every toy collector in the office took time out to bring their collection and draw up a concept for their entry.

And on the day of reckoning, toys from the early 80's to the present flooded the exhibit area. It was a small exhibit w 40 plus entries, but for a toy collector, the sight was definitely a sight for sore eyes!

I drooled over this, a collection of Optimus Prime through the ages!

The toy festival didn't have a specific theme, but overall it seemed like a battle between Marvel action figures, versus Transformers toys.

Out greatest foe, the Marvel Action Figures set up.

I absolutely drooled over the toys i saw, especially the other transformers! Too bad there was only one Gundam, I was hoping to see some as well!

The winner of the Toy Festival. Marvel cum Last Supper, Genius!
